Wednesday night was one of those increasingly rare occasions I find myself out socialising in the evening. What drew me out was the official launch of http://ballinasloecommunity.com which took place in the Shearwater Hotel on Wednesday 19th October 2011 at 6.30. The event as well as launching the site that has been live since earlier this year was an opportunity for local businesses, groups and societies to meet and mingle.

This site is brought to you by the Meadow Cross Cultural Association (MCCA) , a not for profit Ballinasloe Community Group, that promotes events and initiatives to celebrate the diversity of people, culture, tradition and heritage and to seek solutions for social injustice. The MCCA would like to acknowledge the support given by the Office of the Minister for Integration and Galway County Council for this project.
and put together by myself with content supplied by Siobhan Byrne and others, as well as directory submissions from the public. It is the hope of both myself and Siobhan that the site will take on a life of its own as people start to use the directory and the event management aspects of the site. We also hope to add more authors to the site, allowing people from diverse backgrounds to post articles to the site, building an interesting and varied library of articles and essays for visitors to the site.
